Villa Monteleone means Anthony and Lucia Raimondi, he obviously of Italian extraction, she South American by birth but a resident of the United States from her early years.
They came to Italy in 1988 with the acquisition of the 17th century villa, surrounded by gardens and landscaping which have been declared a national monument. Sant’Ambrogio della Valpolicella has another important claim to fame: here reside the descendants of a poet named Dante Alighieri. Wine is an important part of the territory, and local producers include such well known and prestigious names as Masi.

None of the bedrooms are alike, each with its own identity, and they all overlook the luxuriant grounds, declared a national monument, and the farm vineyards.
The antique furniture and elegant carpets used for the furnishings make them original and refined, while they all give onto views of the grounds. Two sitting rooms, one large and one small, are also available for guests, providing a place to read a book or just chat. The scents and sounds of the woods contribute towards creating a romantic and suggestive atmosphere.
The villa’s strategic position is also perfect for guests who want to look for a little adventure, as many popular holiday destinations like Verona, Lake Garda and Gardaland are all within easy reach.

Bedrooms

The three spacious double bedrooms come complete with private bathrooms.
The San Vito Suite, with an independent entrance, also boasts a sauna and wooden tubs to cool down in after a sauna and then relax with a good glass of wine while admiring the valley from the windows.

Villa Monteleone Wines

A vineyard was part of the purchase, and it was only a matter of time before the Raimondi, who had sought in the meantime friendships with their neighbors and the possibility to enter fully into the spirit of the valley in which they had chosen to live, decided to take the plunge and become professional producers as well.
An exacting challenge, but one which has paid off in spades: their well made wines have conquered a faithful clientele and are covered, and praised, by all the major guides to Italian wine.

Only native Valpolicella grapes are cultivated on the property, and the winemaking is rigorously traditional, with a lengthy period of drying for the grapes to be utilized for the superior selections. But the cellar work, if traditional, is not static: barrels are used alongside the casks for the Amarone and the Recioto is entirely aged in barrique.
