Venica & Venica Wines
A serious viticulture and professional winemaking on the part of this family has demonstrated that there are no problems whatsoever in producing wines of more body and substance, both white, not unexpectedly, but red, perhaps more surprisingly, as well.
But though the production of wine is obviously the principal activity of the house, the Venica were pioneers in another sphere as well: for decades, long before it was either chic and popular, they offered hospitality to guests and visitors in a small, but comfortable and well furnished guest house on the estate’s grounds.
Wine, however, has always been the central focus and the brothers, now aided as well by Gianni Venica’s son, understood well in advance of many others, that quality was the key to the future and the production of simple, refreshing, but scarcely characterized white wines was not a viable option for cellars which wished to confront the future challenges of world markets.
The line is quite vast and varied but, among the many possibilities to choose from, a certain number can be said to stand out: the "Pinot Bianco Tàlis", the "Malvasia Pètris", the "Traminer", the "Friulano Ronco delle Cime", the "Merlot Perilla", and the "Refosco Bottaz". Sauvignon is the true spécialité de la maison, however, and is offered in two excellent versions: "Ronco del Cerò" and "Ronco delle Mele".
