Winery Info

It is a well known fact that before World War II the wine that is now part of the Valpolicella Classica (Amarone, Recioto, Ripasso) appellation, was very frequently sold as the “wine of the valley of Fumana, of Marano or of Negrar,” and so on.
The modern appellation, which came into effect in 1967, has simplified and unified a very heterogeneous reality. Today Fumane is certainly, thanks also to the fame of the Wineries situated there, one of the finest centres of production: a combination of concentration and elegance that is rivalled by a few.

Farmhouse

Corteforte offers its guests various solutions, according to their different needs. Accommodation is either inside the tower of an ancient fortress, with one bedroom to each floor, or in “Olivella”, a delightful tiny country cottage that takes its name from the centuries-old olive trees surrounding it.
Guests can spend their holiday by simply enjoying the countryside or visiting the many interesting tourist attractions in the area: these range from the city of Verona, only 14 Kms away, to Lake Garda, the Gardaland Park and many other places of interest; the Lessinia Park, the mountain range of Monte Baldo with San Zeno di Montagna lie in the close vicinity, Mantua and Vicenza are less than 40 Kms away, though Padua and Venice are a little further afield.
The farm can help guests to rent out mountain bikes or guides for treks to one of the many places of interest nearby. Guests can not only visit Corteforte Winery to taste its excellent wines but also accompany them with some of the typical local products, like bread, dressed meats and cheeses.

The Tower

Four double bedrooms with private bathrooms, air conditioning, WiFi, satellite TV and mini-bar are available in the tower. The furnishings respect its glorious mediaeval past, with antique furniture, comfortable beds and large windows that overlook the vineyards and the surrounding hills.
There is a small reading room on the first floor with access to the restaurant, while a beautiful panoramic terrace at the top of the tower creates a natural and well-equipped solarium.

Olivella

This delightful and intimate little cottage can accommodate up to six people. It has two large bedrooms with a large kitchen/ living room on the ground floor giving onto a pretty garden set against a background of cherry trees, vineyards and olive groves.
The garden also has barbecue facilities.

Wines

Corteforte well deserves its place in the solid reputation of the area. The vineyards – approximately 20 acres – are not large in overall extension, but the position is excellent and the work of veteran consulting oenologist Luigi Andreoli could not be more precise and exacting.
The approach is entirely traditional - the grapes that are cultivated (using the pergola training system) are mainly the typical varieties - Corvina, Rondinella, Molinara -; the aging takes place almost exclusively in barrels of 5/600 litres, with only an occasional use of small casks.
Tradition is deeply felt in all the best known wines - Valpolicella Ripasso, Amarone, Recioto-, and has been further enriched by the reintroduction of a product of the past which had virtually disappeared: the Recioto Amandorlato, a bottle whose sweetness and austerity recalls both the Recioto and the Amarone.
The farm often organises various events thanks to the fact that it boasts a large tasting room, which can host up to 50 people. It also offers direct sales and shipping throughout the world.
