Winery Info

Wine can be a strange affliction, a passion which deviates men and women from their chosen path in life, leads them to change careers, leave their homes, move to entirely new areas (at times even new countries) which they had never known before, to abandon, in short, everything they had known before.
In thrall to a fascination which has taken over their lives.
Marco Montanari is a classic example of a man whose life has been seized by forces beyond his control: a dentist with a successful practice in Switzerland, he threw caution to the winds, moved to Tuscany, chose a rocky patch of land in Radda in Chianti, planted new vineyards, and with the assistance of oenologist Stefano Chioccioli, began producing wines of superior quality.
And not merely the blend of Sangiovese and Bordeaux grapes so fashionable at the time, but an excellent Sangiovese as well, long, elegant, fragrant, and silky. A true classic on the palate. And, mirabile dictu, a white wine which found its way in the best restaurants of Florence.
Montanari is obviously a man who is simply stimulated by success into an itch for new challenges to confront, and his newest is in Romagna, on the hillsides of Brisighella, where he purchased a noble 17th and 18th century domain in the form of a monastery with annexes for agricultural activities.
Five years of renovation and restricting have transformed the property into a stylish and classy relais; particularly striking is the Italian-style garden.

Villa Liverzano Accommodation

Villa Liverzano was just a country residence during the 17th–18th centuries. Its recent restoration has totally respected the original architecture and atmosphere and, above all, the structure has been modernised from the ecological point of view. This bed and breakfast accommodation resembles a monastic complex and includes the villa, a church and the typical central courtyard where evening appetizers are now served.
The villa and its environs are entirely surrounded by the farm’s verdant vineyards and, together with its typical Italian garden, it is not only charming but utterly relaxing. Guests can spend their time strolling in the garden, bathing in the structure’s private swimming pool, relaxing in the sauna or Turkish bath or simply reading one of the books in the library. It is possible to taste (on prior reservation) as well as buy the fine wines of the farm.

Bedrooms

The nine guest bedrooms all have different names and furnishings and are very reserved, intimate and personal. Each of the bedrooms gives onto different views of the property, including the Italian garden or the courtyard.

Villa Liverzano Wines

Nor is wine a second thought: though the vineyards cover less than eight acres, there are five offerings to choose from: once again a white wine; a Sangiovese; and a series of blends which include Cabernet Franc and Carmenère, Merlot and Petit Verdot and, best of all, Merlot and Sangiovese.
