Company Info

The history of a family possessing strong entrepreneurial skills and closely linked to the traditions of this territory, particularly suited to the cultivation of the vine.
During the splendour of the Venetian Republic of the past, this area was considered "the Garden of Venice" and even today traces of its magnificence can be seen in the many Venetian villas still to be found here.
A typical example is Villa Sandi at Crocetta del Montello, which lies at the foot of the Treviso hills and houses the winery that bears its name. In terms of numbers, the success of the winery is due to its Prosecco, its DOC appellations and its Valdobbiadene Superiore DOCG, while the cru of the area, is its prestigious Cartizze, which Villa Sandi proposes in an award-winning Brut version, the Cartizze "Vigna La Rivetta".

Locanda Sandi

The Locanda Sandi is situated in the midst of the countryside and vineyards in the Villa Sandi estate at Valdobbiadene. An ancient farmhouse, which has been restructured in such a way as to preserve it original structure and characteristics, the Locanda recalls the atmosphere of the country inns in Veneto in the early 20th century.
An environment of refined simplicity where great care has been given to detail.

Six bedrooms with different furnishings and colours welcome guests in an oasis of peace and quiet and a view of the vineyards. Bicycles are available for rides through the hills of the Prosecco wines. Some of the suggestive beauty spots in the area can easily be reached from here, like Asolo or the ever-magical Venice.

The Locanda Sandi serves many delicious dishes from the Treviso cuisine (first courses with seasonal wild greens, meat either on the spit or grilled, the “sopa coada” (a sort of pigeon soup) and an original “tiramisu”).
The Inn’s most original dish is its snails, an amazing baking tin containing 20 different ingredients and herbs, whose recipe is a strictly guarded secret.

The great classic platter is the grilled meat, cooked in front of the guests in the enormous imposing fireplace in the dining room. Food is also served on a suggestive wooden balcony dominated by the imposing tiled fireplace or, in the summer months, on the veranda that opens out onto the internal garden. The restaurant is surrounded by vineyards that cover the rolling Prosecco hills as far as the eye can see.

Villa Santi Wines

However the family and Giancarlo Moretti Polegato did not get where they are by simply resting on their laurels. Over the decades, with the help of the super-consultant Riccardo Cotarella, Villa Sandi has also created the Premium wines that not only compete with the best in the region, but also with any others in Italy.
The selections include the Marinali Bianco, made with Incrocio Manzoni grapes, and the Filio, an excellent blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
The Raboso wine, made from the local red Raboso grape with its aggressive tannins and a mitigated acidity, has recently attracted great attention and found success.
The Corpore is the finest wine of all, made with Merlot grapes and capable of competing with the best wines in Italy and elsewhere in the world. Villa Sandi is also appreciated for its underground cellars where its Spumante Metodo Classico "Opere Trevigiane" is left to mature.
The cellars are open to the public for guided tours on prior reservation and include tasting in the Wine Shops in Crocetta del Montello and Valdobbiadene. A wine experience that adds to the enjoyment of the art, history and territory.
