The town of La Morra almost certainly boasts the largest number of wineries bottling Barolo and, in Piedmont, the Rocche Costamagna winery comes second in terms of seniority among them: in 1841, royal authorities in nearby Alba issued Luigi Costamagna with a license to sell the wines he produced from his vineyards located in La Morra.
Because of family reasons, the winery stopped working in the 1930’s, but the activity resumed in the 1970’s when Claudia Ferraresi, a descendent of the Costamagna family, with her husband Giorgio Locatelli and their son Alessandro who now runs the winery, returned to La Morra.
