Winery Info

The worldwide popularity of Barolo is a somewhat recent phenomenon. It was little known to begin with, but all that has changed quite drastically in 25 years.
This can be explained by the fact that there has been an explosion in the number of producers who bottle their own wine: the dozens of the 1970’s became many hundreds in the new millennium.
And, in this context, it is easy to forget the importance of the historic houses of Alba, one of which is unquestionably that which bears the name of its founder, Armando Piazzo, who created it half a century ago, starting with vineyards around Alba and in the Barbaresco village of Treiso.
Expansion has steadily followed ever since, and the house can now boast a total vineyard holding of 175 acres, a very large patrimony. The direction of this important activity has passed into the hands of Marina Piazzo, daughter of the founder, and her husband Franco Allario, and their sons, Simone and Marco Allario, who are directly involved in the winemaking as well.
