No records of continuous ownership are kept, as far as it is known, in the Langhe hills, but the Paitin estate in the township of Neive would certainly be a contender for a leading position in the area, were such a register to exist.
Benedetto Elia in fact purchased the property in the year 1796. The wines were already being bottled from as long ago as 1893, when little bottled wine of any sort was being produced anywhere in Italy.
The tradition currently continues under the direction of Secondo Pasquero Elia and his sons Giovanni and Silvano, whose well made wines have deservedly found a place on world markets ever since the 1980’s.

Paitin Holiday Accommodation
The Paitin Holiday Accommodation agriturismo is situated in the heart of the Langhe and certainly its position makes it a perfect starting point for visiting the many beauty spots, whether natural or not, in the area. It stands in a quiet and peaceful area just outside the town of Alba and is therefore an ideal place to relax.
The holiday accommodation has been created in a tastefully restored old farmhouse with 6 elegant and comfortable bedrooms, all in different colours and decor. The bedrooms give onto a wonderful view over the farm’s vineyards and the hills of Alba.
Guests can pamper themselves in the beautiful outdoor pool, which also offers a magnificent view, stroll through the garden, equipped with deck chairs and gazebos that surrounds the farm or visit the estate’s winery and taste the fine wines produced there. Hearty breakfasts are served each morning with the top quality products. Various activities are possible in the area, such as visits to the picturesque cities of Alba, Cuneo, Bra and Saluzzo, as well as plenty of lovely walks in the Colli dell’Agnello or the Fauniera.
The structure allows guests to bring small and medium sized domestic pets.

The 6 bedrooms and 1 suite can host up to three people and are equipped with every comfort, including air conditioning, a mini-bar, central heating, a Wi-Fi link and private bathrooms. It is also possible to stay in two adjoining rooms on the ground floor.
Wines
17 hectares of vineyards are much more than just a small farm in the area of Alba and the Paitin estate has the privilege of proposing prestigious labels like the Serra and Sorì Paitin, produced at Bricco di Neive-Serraboella, an area famous for its Barbaresco.
These are the vineyards that give the various selections that have made the estate’s name: Sorì Paitin Barbaresco Vecchie Vigne. Production is by no means limited to Nebbiolo-based wines, however, and the range of wines offered is ample and well varied. Barbera d’Alba is produced from the grapes of the Serraboella vineyard, while the Barbera d’Alba Superiore version of the wine is sourced from the smaller Campolive plot.
Dolcetto d’Alba is well represented by ten thousand fruity and varietal bottles.
White wine is a more recent part of the viticulture of the Langhe, but the principal grape utilized for the wines is the local Arneis, offered in this case both in a Langhe version and another from the sandy soils of Roero district across the Tanaro, on the river’s west bank.
Nebbiolo d’Alba, finally, is a more recent addition, with grapes from vineyards located within the confines of the city of Alba itself.
