Wines
With a tradition so lengthy, it is no surprise that the cellars have a scenographic impact of their own: entirely underground and connecting a series of subterranean spaces once used for the fermenting and aging of wine, they are situated under the road of the township of Cornaiano.
Fifty hectoliter wooden casks only underline the historic character of the house and its working spaces, but ties to tradition, though deeply felt are no impediment to innovation and a modern approach to winemaking: the grapes are fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks.
White wines – Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Müller-Thurgau, Gewrüztraminer – are a substantial part of the overall production, and Cornaiano is particularly renowned for the quality of the first of these grapes, but, true to tradition, red wine is by no means neglected, as testify the high level Pinot Noir and Lagrein, as does the Joanni, red unites Bordeaux and the Südtyrol in its blend.
